Hi, I’m Thalia (pronounced Thah-lee-ah)
I’ve always been fascinated by art and technology. I studied both at college and I consider myself to be a life-long learner and this has shaped my design approach. I’m curious about how things work and strive to create designs that are both beautiful and functional.
I started out as an art director for a start-up company called Kintera in San Diego, I was a regular Swiss Army knife, creating everything from billboards, corporate collateral and building signage to websites and software interfaces. We specialized in software for nonprofit organizations.
During my tenure there, a catastrophic tsunami hit Southeast Asia. The donation forms we built for the Red Cross collected over a $100 million towards aid relief. As a result, I knew the impact was felt across the globe and I found my niche.
I went on to manage the design team and increase my knowledge of CMS, IA, UX and branding. Our cloud-based solution for nonprofits was truly ahead of its time. In addition, our peer-to-peer fundraising solution called Friends Asking Friends™ was the precursor to today’s crowdfunding applications.
I went on to join Blackbaud, a leading software company for nonprofits, where my team of designers and developers delivered large-scale software projects for all types of organizations. I motivated my team to do superb work under tight deadlines and gained hands-on experience in professional services, sales support and customer relations.
Currently, as Little Sparrow Design I help all types of businesses, entrepreneurs and nonprofits create and refine their presence online.
I’m currently residing in Southern California. I’m passionate about art, photography, film, dance and music. Some of the causes I care about include human rights, animal welfare and protecting the environment.
